Corporate Cup Competition Information

Teams (male, female, co-ed) consist of full time employees and are based on company size. To enter, contact your company team captain or elect a company team captain. Team captains need to fill out an application roster. There is no charge to enter a corporate team, however, all team members must still register and pay their individual entry fee for the Boilermaker.

2008 BOILERMAKER CORPORATE CUP TEAM RULES

  1. Each team member must have submitted a Boilermaker Official Entry Form to be eligible as a team member.

  2. Each team entry must be submitted on a 2008 Boilermaker Corporate Cup Team Entry Form by JUNE 30, 2008.

  3. No team entries will be accepted over the telephone.

  4. Only one team may be entered per Boilermaker Corporate Cup Team Entry Form.

  5. No amendments to a Team Entry Form will be accepted after it has been received by the Race Committee.

  6. Corporations may enter an unlimited number of teams, and team size is unlimited. There is no fee for entering a team. The minimum team size is determined by the scoring criteria listed in Items 10 through 12.

  7. A Corporation is defined as a profit or nonprofit business or service, including state and municipal organizations.

  8. Each team runner must be a full-time or part-time employee of the Business/Corporation since April 1st, 2008. A full-time employee is one who regularly works, and is paid through the regular company payroll, a 40 hour week. A part-time employee works no less than 20 hours regularly each week, and is on the company’s regular payroll. Employment must be verifiable through the company’s human resources or personnel department, and that contact must be given on the entry form. No contractors, sub-contractors, or consultants will be considered as employees. Physicians and Medical Professionals who have privileges to practice at a hospital or medical group may form a team, or be included on a team with employees of the hospital or medical group.

  9. If more than one group, branch, or division of the company exists then teams must be entered in the competition category appropriate for the size, or employee count, of the entire company if the team roster is made up of runners from more than one office location. If a team is entered with runners coming from a single office location, then the team may enter in the competition category based on the size of the one office, branch, or division that the roster is taken from. If the roster contains runners from more than one office location, then the size of the entire company is used as the basis for the team category. (see item 10)

  10. Team scoring will be based on the average finish time, based on net, or chip time, of:

    MALE TEAMS:
Large Corporation (over 1000 employees) - First 5 finishers
Medium Corporation (251 to 1000 employees) - First 5 finishers
Small Corporation (1 to 250 employees) - First 3 finishers

    FEMALE TEAMS:
All Corporations - First 3 finishers

    COED TEAMS:
Large Corporation (over 1000 employees) - First 5 finishers
Medium Corporation (251 to 1000 employees) - First 5 finishers
Small Corporation (1 to 250 employees) - First 3 finishers

    MASTERS TEAMS:

All Corporations - First 3 finishers

Minimum team size is 5 for large and medium teams, or 3 for small, coed, and masters teams, as indicated to complete the scoring.

  11. Scoring for Coed teams will include the first 3 finishers composed of at least 1 male and 1 female runner for small corporations, and the first 5 finishers composed of at least 2 male and 2 female runners for medium and large corporations.

  12. Scoring for Masters teams will include the first 3 finishers. Masters runners must be forty years old (40) on or before the day of the race. Note that runners over 40 may compete in other categories, but a Masters team can only include runners that are at least 40 years old.

  13. Awards will be given to the First and Second Place Finishers in each Team category. An additional award will be issued to the team with the fastest score, as computed for their category. The team winning the overall fastest team award will not be included in the First and Second Finish Award for their category (no multiple awards). Awards will also be given to the Fastest Male and Fastest Female Corporate Cup runners.

  14. An individual cannot be entered as an official member for more than one Boilermaker Corporate Cup Team. This includes Male, Female, Coed, and Master’s teams.

  15. The Team Captain will be responsible for the completion and accuracy of the Team Entry Form. Any correspondence from the Race Committee will be with the Team Captain - not with the individual team members. The Team Captain should provide their address and telephone number in case of any problems.

  16. The Team Entry Form must include the name and telephone number of the employee personnel department or responsible individual for the purpose of verifying company size and employment status of team runners.

All rules are interpreted by the Boilermaker Race committee and any disputes or suggestions must be made in writing to the Corporate Cup Committee Chairman.

Prizes & Awards

Awards are presented to the fastest teams. There are divisions for small (under 250 employees), medium (251-1000 employees), and large businesses (over 1000 employees) as well as women’s, co-ed, and master’s teams, so that every team has an opportunity against similar competitors. Awards will also be presented to the fastest corporate male and female, and to the team with the overall fastest time as computed by their competition category. The Corporate Cup competition is a great way to build team spirit and increase employee enthusiasm.

Corporate Cup Gift

Once again, the Corporate Cup is offering a team gift for each company runner. Team captains should pick up this years’ team gifts at the Corporate Cup booth at the Health and Fitness Expo before the race.
