Violet Morris Memorial Scholarship
The Boilermaker Road Race is pleased to announce the acceptance of applications for the Violet Morris Memorial Scholarship. This will be the second year of this scholarship.
This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a local high school senior who is planning on or currently attending a local college to include Utica College, MVCC, Hamilton College, SUNY-IT or HCCC.
While an important focus is the individual is a runner, the intent is to reward the efforts of a person who struggled or struggles against adversity to achieve a goal. Involvement with some aspect of the Boilermaker Road Race is a plus but not necessary.
"Violet was an individual who realized both the importance of education and the importance of self sacrifice," said her husband Bob Morris. "This is her gift to the youth in our community."
