Boilermaker Road Race, Honest John's Hot Dogs and NY Beef Council Present Food Bank of Central New York with Check
(Jul. 21, 2015)
On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, a check in the amount of $1,566.25 was presented to Food Bank of Central New York by representatives from the Boilermaker Road Race, Smith Packing, and the New York Beef Council. The check represents the funds raised during the hot dog sale at the Boilermaker Expo. Runners, their families and friends were able to purchase delicious Honest John's Hot Dogs. With the funds raised, Food Bank of Central New York will be able to acquire and distribute enough food for 5,482 nutritious meals.
Honest John's, the official hot dog of the Boilermaker, donated the hot dogs and condiments for the fundraiser while Bimbo Bakeries/Freihofer's supplied the rolls. All hot dogs sold for $1 each and many generous donations were received as well. Food Bank staff and volunteers led the hot dog sale at the Expo.
"Smith Packing Company is proud of our partnership with the Boilermaker Road Race, and the Food Bank of Central New York. It was our privilege to provide Honest John's Hot Dogs, the Official Hot Dog of the Boilermaker, to directly benefit the Food Bank of Central New York. We feel it is important to look for ways to support our local community and would like to thank Tim Reed, Lynn Hy, and Jean O'Toole for their efforts to make this event a success," Eric Smith, President at Smith Packing, said.
"The Boilermaker loves to be a part of a public- private partnership that benefits our community," stated Tim Reed, president of the Boilermaker Road Race. Jean O'Toole, Director of Public Relations and Promotions at the NY Beef Council added "New York Beef Council is proud to have been part of this endeavor, all of our efforts created an amazing synergy to support the Food Bank of CNY in their fight against hunger!"
