Boilermaker Adds Community Development Coordinator

February 9, 2017 (Utica, NY) - The Boilermaker Road Race has added a new member to its team. Rebecca Spataro Kearns will join the organization as Community Development Coordinator. Rebecca's hiring marks another major step in the Boilermaker's ongoing mission to be a year-round change agent for health and wellness. "We are excited to bring on a professional like Rebecca to champion health and wellness in our community," said Tim Reed, President of the Boilermaker.

Previously, Rebecca served as the Employee Wellness Coordinator at the Masonic Care Community where she developed a diverse wellness program blanketing a variety of physical and educational opportunities. She also served as Director of the West Utica Public Market, one of the Boilermaker Urban Initiatives which enjoyed a successful inaugural season in 2016. An experienced yoga instructor, she is the owner of Dented Bumper Yoga which conducts community classes at Boilermaker headquarters. In 2011, she received the Commander's Award for Public Service, the fourth-highest public service decoration the Army can bestow upon a civilian. Rebecca had this to say about her new role, "I am thrilled to create programs, with the passion of the Boilermaker, to engage and inspire people to lead their best lives beyond sneakers."

Rebecca earned a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. She lives in Sauquoit with her husband, Brendan (SSG, US Army RET), their three sons, Aidan, Kieran, and Quinlan and their dog, Scout.

The 40th running of the Boilermaker Road Race will take place on Sunday, July 9th, 2017.
