2019 Boilermaker Charity Bib Partners and "Run for U" Campaign Announced
(Feb. 27, 2019)
The Boilermaker Road Race has determined its 2019 Charity Bib partners from a competitive pool of non-profit applicants. The eleven organizations are 315K for the Cure, Abraham House, ARC Herkimer, CABVI, Center for Leadership Excellence, David's Refuge, Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., Masonic Care Community, On My Team 16, Samaritan Counseling Center for the Mohawk Valley and Kids Oneida. The organizations were selected by a committee of volunteers organized by Boilermaker Community Outreach Director, Rebecca Kearns. Since its inception in 2013, the Boilermaker Charity Bib program has raised over $600,000 for area non-profits.
"Abraham House is thrilled once again to be chosen as part of the Boilermaker Charity Bib Program," said Gina Ciaccia, Executive Director of the Abraham House. "Funds generated through community partners like the Boilermaker are vital to the success of local non-profits like ours. We value both the relationship and the opportunity."
In addition, the Boilermaker will be conducting its third "Run for U" fundraising campaign during 2019 race registration after successful campaigns in 2017 and 2018 which raised over $50,000 for the Boilermaker Urban Initiative. While registering for the Boilermaker, runners will have the option to make a donation to support the initiative.
"The first two years of the 'Run for U' campaign exceeded all of our expectations and we continue to be humbled by the generosity of spirit," said Rebecca Kearns, Boilermaker Community Outreach Director. "The Boilermaker community loves this race and we feel it is our obligation to be a vehicle for positive change, not just in July, but throughout the year."
The Boilermaker Urban Initiative is the organization's community outreach arm which aims to improve the lives and health of Utica residents through the Boilermaker Urban Garden and Boilermaker Kids in Training programs all of which kicked off during the summer of 2017. More information on the Boilermaker Urban Initiative and its programs can be found at boilermaker.com.
Early-access Registration for 2019 will begin at 12 PM on Thursday, March 7th and Open Registration will begin at 12 PM on Friday, March 15th.
The 42nd running of the Boilermaker Road Race will take place on Sunday, July 14th, 2019. The Boilermaker Road Race is a member of the PRRO Circuit.View Recent Press
