Boilermaker Debuts Halloween Kid's Run

Utica, NY (Sept. 5, 2013) - The Masonic Care Community will be the venue for the first annual Boolermaker Road Race. The race will take place Saturday, October 26th, at 10:00 am. Children from 4 to 12 can run age-appropriate distances ranging from ¼, ½, ¾ and 1 mile. 

'We are excited to have kids running the roads of Masonic' said Rob Raffle, Executive Director of Masonic Care Community. 'Masonic prides itself on supporting local health and wellness activities.'

Registration for the Boolermaker will take place in Center Court at Sangertown Square on Saturday, October 19th, from noon- 5:00 pm and Friday, October 25th, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm.  Race cost will be $5 a child; cash and check only. There will be no on-line or race day signups. The field will be limited to 1,200 children and need to be accompanied by an adult. 

The participants will finish in a secured tent area.  Riders from The Ride for Missing Children, as well as law enforcement, will be assisting with race security.

All children participating will receive a Boolermaker logoed bag at the end of the race.

In addition, a number of healthy snacks will be offered to all the participants. Current food providers include, Chobani, McDonald's, Price Chopper, North Star Orchards, Bagel Grove, Dole and Peter's Cornucopia. Excellus Blue Cross/ Blue Shield will provide dental floss and local dentists will hand out toothbrushes.

Activities including face painting, child ID fingerprinting and a costume contest. The Utica Zoomobile will also be on hand
'We ask parents whose children may be running in costumes to use common sense and not have outfits that limit vision or are a tripping hazard' said Dennis Brenon, Boolermaker Race Director. 'Athletic footwear will be mandatory.'

No dogs, baby strollers, or in-line skates will be allowed.
