Boilermaker Expo Hot Dog Sale to Benefit Food Bank of CNY
Jul. 3, 2014
July 3, 2014 (Utica, NY) - During this year's Boilermaker Expo attendants will have a chance to buy a hot dog and help a local charity. Smith Packing Company, manufacturer of Honest John Hot Dogs and Freihofer's Baking Company have donated hot dogs and rolls to support the Food Bank of Central New York.
"It's about supporting the local community and Honest John's Hot Dogs is proud to partner with the Boilermaker and Food Bank of CNY, said Eric Smith, president of Smith Packing.
The hot dogs, which will cost a dollar, will be prepared by volunteers and staff of the Food Bank of CNY and offered Friday and Saturday at the Expo held at Mohawk Valley Community College. All funds raised from the Boilermaker Expo Hot Dog Sale will be used by the Food Bank for their hunger-relief mission.
'This is the sort of public- private partnership that makes great things happen', said Tim Reed, president of the Boilermaker Road Race.' This gives us the opportunity to showcase two local food manufacturers while providing funds to support food distribution in our community.'
"Food Bank of Central New York is working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education, and advocacy in cooperation with the community. This partnership is a prime example of the type of community partnership we need to achieve our mission," stated Lynn Hy, director of philanthropy at the Food Bank of Central New York.
The 37th running of the Boilermaker Road Race will take place Sunday July 13, 2014 in Utica, NY.
