Boilermaker Unveils 2015 Charity Bib Participants

(Utica, N.Y.)- The Boilermaker Road Race announced the charities involved in the 2015 Boilermaker Charity Bib Program at a press conference on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10am.
Twenty one not-for-profit organizations located in Central New York will be participating in this year's Charity Bib Program, which has raised over $250,000 for 15 organizations in the community since its inception in 2013.
This year's chosen participants are: ACR Health, Arc Onondaga, Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter, Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Food Bank of CNY, Hospice, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Central New York, Kelberman Center, Make-A-Wish Central New York, Masonic Care Community, Masonic Medical Research Laboratory, Mid York Library Systems, Notre Dame Schools, Prader-Willi Alliance, Salvation Army, Sitrin Health Care Center, Upstate Cerebral Palsy, Utica Food Bank, Central New York Veterans Outreach, YWCA of the Mohawk Valley and Westside Community Center.
The Charity Bib Program is a fund raising effort that provides not-for-profit organizations the opportunity to "fund-" and "community-" raise by securing the sale of Boilermaker race bibs to runners throughout the nation. During the 2015 season, 260 total bibs will be distributed to the 21 chosen local charities. Those not-for-profits met the qualifications set forth by the Boilermaker Charity Bib Program Committee and are dedicated in selling each bib for a minimum fundraising pledge of $500. The maximum number of bibs any one charity was given in 2015 was 25. Charity bibs may be used for the 15k, 5k races, and 3 mile walk.
Tim Reed, president of the Boilermaker Road Race, also announced that new this year is a partnership with CrowdRise, an online tool for tracking and obtaining donations that is required by each organization chosen.
"This new and very exciting feature to our program is the official fundraising platform for the biggest charity races in the world including the NYC Marathon, John Hancock for the Boston Marathon, and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon," Reed said. "The Charity pages will live inside a social network that will allow the entire community to access their pages, learning about their missions, visions and goals as they "click to donate" for your Charity Bib Runners!"
The Boilermaker Charity Bib Program will open on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at noon (EST). Participants can sign up for the 15K & 5K races and 3 Mile Walk. The Boilermaker Charity Bib registration link will be located at boilermaker.com.
The 38th running of the Boilermaker Road Race will take place on Sunday July 12,2015 in Utica, NY.
