Race Reveals Registration Process/2015 Race Logo
(Dec. 3, 2014)
Officials with the Boilermaker Road Race announced the dates of the opening of registrations for the 2015 Boilermaker.
This year, the race has partnered with a new registration company, RunSignUp. Along with a new registration company, the race is also introducing a new multi-tiered registration process.
The Charity Bib Program will open first at noon on Tuesday Marsh 3rd. The bibs can be utilized for the 15K and 5K Races or Three Mile Walk. Participants must commit to raise a minimum of $500 for the selected non-profits. The bibs will be provided to the charity at no cost.
Runners who were granted a deferral last year can register starting at noon on Saturday March 7th. They will have two weeks to sign up. Deferral Registration will close at 11:59 pm on March 20th.
Next registration to open will be for Preferred Customers or Preferred Runners. A Preferred Runners is any official finisher of last year's races who finished in the allotted time limit. Preferred Registration will open at noon on Saturday March14th and will close at 11:59 pm on March 20th.
Open registration will start at noon on Saturday March 21st and will close once the cap is reached for each race. "We feel this process is fairer than a lottery and we will be able to take care of all of our loyal participants" said Jim Stasaitis, Boilermaker Race Director.
Also new this year will be a Wait List. If a runner gets closed out of the race they can opt in to be placed on a Wait List. If a spot opens up in the race, the first runner on the list will be notified. They will have 48 hours to respond, (register). If they don't respond within the time frame, the next runner on the list will be notified.
More details can be found on the Boilermaker website, www.boilermaker.com.
Race cap numbers will remain the same as in the 2014 races: 14,000 for the 15K, 4,500 for the 5K and 1,000 for the 3 Mile Walk.
In 2014, Boilermaker 15K sold out in two hours and nineteen minutes; the 5K closed out twenty minutes later.
The 2015 Boilermaker logo was unveiled. The inspiration for the logo was from Boilermaker Merchandise Director, Jim Raymer. "This year's logo is a combination of the year and the race distance. "An opportunity like this only comes around once every hundred years" said Raymer
